Mineral and stylish kitchen

Location: Bay of Arcachon
  • This kitchen forms the cornerstone of a large open plan living space (c.60m2) with magnificent sloped ceiling heights. The client asked us to create a convivial space with clean lines that would be a space to cook as well as to entertain.

We opted for a kitchen in mineral hues and selected the “Velvet Graphique” finish from Ixina for its deep forest green shade, which echoes the pine forests of the bay. This deep colour contrasts harmoniously with the “Little Terrazzo” quartz worktop from Pierre de Plan and the clay-based colour palette of the room. We added bar stools in ash and kitchen accessories in oak and olive wood to bring warmth and comfort.

We built up our design around a large niche with as many high as low cupboards in order to optimise storage and benefit from the advantages of the high ceiling. The central kitchen island sits in perfect symmetry with the main niche and provides the entertainment corner of the kitchen. The black “Line N” handles from Ixina form perfect straight lines that frame the niche and add a touch of elegance. Just like the “Pure Black” household appliances.

The final touch of this kitchen is the custom-made frame of thin wooden slats that we designed and painted in the same color as the ceiling to create a delicate enveloping frame, which delineates elegantly this corner of the room.
